FEATURED SPECIMENS
Throughout our explorations we frequently come across horizons containing ammonite fossils. On one trip to the 87 million
year old Carlile Formation we found a ridge full of interesting little tidbits. These concreted limestones contain a wide
variety of little ammonites (mostly Scaphites warreni), pelecypods, shark teeth, fish vertebrae, fish coprolites, drift wood
chunks, and other miscellania. They are not fantastic museum quality specimens, but for the avid fossil collector they are
quite interesting. There are also few dealers who offer specimens from the Carlile Formation making these species
often difficult to find. Our Carlile collection is offered as individual pieces of matrix containing misc. fossils or
as single ammonites. If you don't see it pictured, call and make a request, and we can probably find it for you.
