Trinacromerum kirki partial skeleton nicknamed "DOC"

$200,000.00

Offered for sale to museums only, we have one ORIGINAL BONE Polycotylid Plesiosaur, partial skeleton, legally collected from private ranch land in Butte County, South Dakota in 2007. This specimen is very rare (1 of only 2 known kirki specimens!) and ONLY offered to public repositories. The majority of the in-situ bones were in fantastic condition, with only a minor amount of pre-depositional weathering and encrustation. Some pathologies have also been discovered including bite marks from the bottom feeding squalicorax shark and a set of fused podials that were broken and re-healed prior to death. Approximately 40% or more of the animal has been recovered. It has a complete pelvic girdle (illia, ischia, pubes), at least 2.5/4 complete paddles (Propodials-tip), fragments from the pectoral girdle, fragmentary vertebral series, and fragmentary ribs. Much of the specimen had previously weathered out and had re-buried itself at the base of the hill. The majority of these fragments have been recovered and the tedious work of pieceing it all back together again is in progress.

The specimen is being offered fully prepared and mounted. Included with the sale is a cast of a similarly sized polycotylid skull for compositing.

A copy of all documentation, photographs, land-owner contract, and other miscellaneous information comes with the specimen and is included in the price.

Serious inquiries only. Please call for pricing.
